Sad Snack/Half Caff/Bed Bugs

So, fun fact... I met my current partner at this show.

This was a valentines day show in 2024. I wasn't doing anything, and neither was a buddy of mine, so we decided to go, just to have something to do.

Before this, I hadn't heard of any of the bands other than Sad Snack. I also only knew Sad Snack because I came across their Ska cover of No Children by the mountain goats- i hadn't heard anything else by them.

That venue is very friendly. It was also a tiny crowd. We did a lot of talking. We saw someone with rainbow hair that we kept calling "rainbowdash", even got their instagram, and then later went "holy shit, rainbowdash is part of one of the bands!!!"

We made several friends. That's most of what I remember from that night, really. The music was fun and fine, but I was focused on making friends with the cool people in the crowd.

One of which being... gasp... a furry. I striked up a conversation when he had the fursuit head on, of course, because it was one of the first times I'd seen a furry in public.

And then he took off the head and I went "oh no he's hot" and proceeded to call him "the hot furry" for the rest of the night... and probably a few weeks after.

It turned out, he knew the band personally. He was even in a music video for them later. So that's why he was at that show. I was very excited when Sad Snack asked who in the crowd was single and he raised his hand... paw. I also spent a lot of the night staring him down, trying (and succeeding, once) to dance with him.

We're now on almost a year and a half together. The band knows about this, and gets a kick out of it.

Overall, I did like the music. Whenever I'm in the mood for Ska, I put on Sad Snack. Mostly, though, I remember the friends I made in the crowd.
