Statement 13. 6/20/25
Statement begins.
So I got a hysterectomy.
And a new keyboard and grinder! But more importantly, the hysterectomy.
Originally, my consult was in August. By the grace of god, I actually picked up my phone when an unfamiliar number called me. They said my surgeon was moving up all hysterectomies (with this administration? gee, i wonder why...) and let me reschedule the consult to early May.
1 consult and 1 pre-op, and the surgery got done June 16th. So I'm 4 days post op at this point.
No more periods. No goddamn babies. It was a total hysterectomy with bilateral salingo-oophectomy... some shit like that. So uterus, ovaries and cervix all GONE. Absolutely no babies. I've basically gone through menopause.
It was really the best time to do it-I have the summer off, which I'm not expecting to get... ever again? I was going to try to work through the summer but I couldn't find anything, so I write and edit for a silicone fetish site for like, 40$ a month. It's whatever. I like writing! And I'm not paying rent, so I'm not hemorraghing money as much as I was expecting.
Recovery should take a few weeks, but I'm already doing pretty good. I'm not gonna push it or anything, but I was expecting to not want solid food and be in bed constantly at this point. Now it's mostly just about lifting stuff or sitting up. And driving, for a few more days. And no penetration, and frankly that's harder to deal with than not being allowed to lift.
Ren is here to help me out. My mother has also been helping. I'm young, so it's been a fairly quick recovery, I think. The worst part was the day of, immediately after. The nausea and burning need-to-piss was unbearable. The 1.5 hour drive home (mom driving) took 3 hours because I kept needing to stop to try to piss, or needed a break from the nausea. She was very patient.
I'm just glad it's over with. No more periods. No pregnancy scares. I'm extremely lucky-they don't usually do sterilization on people under 21, I only snuck in because it was gender affirming care. Rare transgender privilege. I'll take it.
Also I won 2 major scholarships for being queer. I don't think I... said that anywhere else. One was 6k for 'service to the lgbtq community', I had to go to a luncheon and give a speech for that and everything. And the other one is just for generally good gay people, I guess? And that one was 2.5k. So 8.5k total for tuition and such else. And one more schoiarship I haven't heard back about yet, but probably not. Crazy, right? People are swearing that I earned it, but idunno. I do a lot of dissociating, I barely remember half the shit I've done.
Statement ends.
